Ilaya Daniele - courageously free

My sheep hear my voice,
I know them,
and they follow me.

John 10:27

To dedicate - to set aside or commit to a sacred purpose;
committing a child to God and God's purposes for the child.

Her lolo (grandfather) led us in this simple and intimate ceremony of dedicating Ilaya Daniele. We stood in front, with bowed hearts, prayerfully seeking wisdom and guidance. Asking in our prayer thoughts to help us with this privilege of being chosen as Ilaya's parents.

Ilaya (i-la'-ya) is a tagalog word that means "to free". Her 2nd name, Daniele (dahn-yel), is taken from the prophet Daniel who lived courageously for the Lord even when confronted with compromise. Our prayer then is for her to grow and know her Maker and be courageously free to live a life pleasing to Him.

Ilaya is His. May she hear His voice and follow Him as sheep do to their Shepherd.

*** The cake turned out better than I expected and the cupcakes were a hit with the kids. More pictures of the celebration at our picasa.
